Dear naomi, Of course , the reformationist did use the hebrew in their translations but they were translating from the latin. The monopoly of the Catholic Church Did not want the common people to be able to read english and judge for themselve what the book of Acts and the Epistles of paul said, namely that Salvation was by faith alone.
No more need for confessions to a priest, No more need for indulgences to pay for your sins. Etc
