Me again, re-listening to your discussion but with a question. The Hebrew name of the man we call Jesus is יֵשׁוּעַ . I understood this to be pronounced Yeshua. I see the nikud under the ayin that indicates an ‘a’ sound. So why do you say Yeshu? I see on the internet some people consider it a derogatory alteration:”Another explanation given is that the name "Yeshu" is actually an acronym for the formula ימח שמו וזכרו(נו) (Yimach Shemo V'Zichro[no]), meaning "may his name and memory be obliterated".” I don’t think that you personally would. Any thoughts?
Re. The men of the East… Daniel was such a great witness that the King of the Medes and Persians, whose law cannot be changed, proclaimed the authority of the God of the Jews and recognised his responsibility in building the temple. Here you read of these wise men from the East coming to bow down.
Naomi, Considering God commands us not to fear, I’m impressed with your obedience to that instruction. It is so exciting to hear you discussing the Hebrew. I have tried to study the language but struggle with native lack of language talent. I attempt a regular shabat study that includes study of the Hebrew words of scriptural books. I’m so excited to hear your excitement in the beauty of these words and the intelligent structuring of the language. All those years of hard literature study are paying off.
I am Christian and was always taught that Matthew was written just as this reading gives it, as for the Jews to understand how Jesus was fulfilling the prophesy of the Torah and Prophets. This is exactly how I was taught to read Matthew.
I am loving this! I want to share this from The Mirror Bible by Francois Du Toit …”The two most important words in the Bible are the words, ‘in Christ.’
This union is the key that unlocks the mystery of the Mirror message; it is not possible to understand the Bible or redemption in any other light.
Of God's doing are you in Christ! 1 Corinthians 1:30
In the mind of God you have always been associated in Christ! Eph 1:4
Some people are not more in Christ than others - most people just don't know it yet! ❤️
“He doctored them.” I love this point! This is no way retracts from the beauty of His ministry. He cared about people. It wasn’t about wowing the crowd with his power. He made the people feel cared for, seen, loved. That in itself carries healing power. He was teaching society how to treat one another by modeling it himself. This just broadens the beauty of who He was, in my view.
I have a copy of the Messianic Writings (inaccurately and incorrectly called the “new testament”) translated by Daniel Gruber. It corrects many (maybe all?) of the issues you are noting and pointing out. I highly recommend it. Make sure to get the second edition if you decide to purchase it. :)
Awesome!!! I've been looking forward to this one! Will be listening this afternoon. Thank You!
